3-8 January 2004

At the beginning of the year I spent one week around Italy together with Benny. We visited Roma, Pisa and Firenze.

ROMA

I had booked a cheap, but nice accomodation near the railways station of Roma-Termini. The view from the terrace was cool (1).
We were close also to the church of Santa Maria Maggiore (2).

After one day of relax, the second day we visited the Ancient part of the city: Fori Imperiali (3) and Colosseo (4).

(3)    (4)

Then just beside there is Piazza Venezia with the massive monument of Vittoriano (5) and Palazzo Venezia (6), where the dux Benito Mussolini used to give the speeches!

(5)    (6)

In the afternoon we went to see Fontana di Trevi (7) and just before the dusk Piazza di Spagna (8), crowded of people.

(7)    (8)

In the third day we visited the Pantheon (9) and we walked in Piazza Navona (10), where there was a street market.

(9)    (10)

Then we crossed river Tevere and in front of us there was Castel Sant'Angelo (11), after that we reached Basilica di San Pietro (12), and we also enjoyed the view from the roof (13).

The day after we left Roma and by train we arrived in Firenze, just the time to leave the luggages in the hotel and we took the train again to spend the afternoon in Pisa.

PISA

We went downtown crossing the river Arno (14), and after ten minutes walking we found Torre di Pisa, and we took artistic (15) and original (16) pictures!!

We left Piazza dei Miracoli (17) with the sunset.

FIRENZE

We spent our last day of the holiday for the see-sight of Firenze. Starting with the church Santa Maria Novella (18), we had a walk in the old part of the city, that is the city centre. The streets and the buildings (19) are picturesque.

(19)  (20)  (21)

We discover the cathedral S.Maria del Fiore, with the baptistry and the Tower of Giotto (20). Then we went in Piazza della Signoria (21), where there is Palazzo Vecchio and beside Uffizi Gallery: we admired great paintings by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Raffaello, Giotto, Tintoretto, etc.
Of course we didn't forget to see Ponte Vecchio (22).

Definitly I had six pleased and tender days within Benny.
